ÉVIAN-LES-BAINS, FRANCE / EuroWire / – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France. The talks focused on UAE-Egypt relations, regional stability and international cooperation. The meeting took place during the 52nd G7 Summit, held from June 15 to 17 under the French presidency.

Sheikh Mohamed and El-Sisi reviewed bilateral ties and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation across several sectors. The two leaders also addressed support for both countries’ development priorities. Their meeting added a UAE-Egypt track to wider summit diplomacy in France, where invited partner countries joined G7 members for discussions on global and regional issues.

The leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including developments in the Middle East. They discussed efforts to promote regional stability and the role of international coordination in addressing shared challenges. The talks also covered items on the G7 agenda, including cooperation linked to economic growth, crisis response, energy, trade and supply chains.

    Regional stability in focus

The G7 Summit brought together leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The European Union also attended the summit. France invited several partner countries to take part in selected discussions, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, India and Ukraine, according to public summit information.

On Tuesday, El-Sisi took part in a G7 session on crises and stability in the Middle East. The session included G7 leaders, Sheikh Mohamed, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the president of the European Council and the president of the European Commission. Egypt’s presidency said El-Sisi presented Egypt’s position on regional developments during the session.

    G7 agenda frames talks

The summit agenda included global economic growth, geopolitical crises, trade, energy, supply chains, sustainable development, digital issues and artificial intelligence. The UAE President attended the summit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. Egypt joined as an invited partner country. Egyptian officials said the 2026 summit marked Egypt’s second G7 participation after the 2019 summit in Biarritz.

The UAE-Egypt meeting took place amid a series of leader-level contacts in Évian-les-Bains. Both countries have used the summit setting to engage on bilateral and regional issues. The Wednesday talks kept the focus on cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Cairo, Middle East stability, and the role of multilateral dialogue in addressing economic and security pressures.
