The five-state assembly election results have been hailed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a validation of the BJP’s pro-poor and pro-active governing style. After winning four States last evening, Mr Modi told party karyakartas at the party headquarters in New Delhi that the BJP’s vote share had increased even though it was in Government in three States – Uttar Pradesh, Goa, and Manipur.

PM Modi says Assembly polls have set the tone for 2024 electionsBJP emerged as the single largest party in Goa, PM Modi added. Despite being in power for ten years, Mr Modi said BJP seats in the state have increased. The BJP has also made history in Uttarakhand, he added. There have been numerous Prime Ministers from Uttar Pradesh, but this is the first time that a Chief Minister who has served a five-year term has been re-elected.

Modi said that the BJP Government has over the years not only improved governance delivery systems, but also brought transparency to the entire process. In his words, BJP assures all poor people that government facilities will reach them as it has done since 2014. BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda said people once again reposed their faith and approved of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare programs and policies. Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh congratulated Mr Modi on his victory during the assembly elections.
